Ahh fried rice — while many people associate it with Chinese takeout, it doesn't need to be that way; you can make your own fried rice at home, and it's actually a lot easier than you may expect. Your homemade fried rice will be healthier than your go-to Chinese takeout joint, and a whole lot cheaper too!
There are many different types and variations of fried rice, but most of them share a few things in common. First, you'll need some cold (but cooked) rice. Freshly cooked rice works, but it contains a lot of moisture and will lead to clumpier fried rice. Next, you'll need to have some soy sauce and sesame oil on hand. Most fried rice recipes will use a few different vegetables — onions, carrots, peas, garlic, broccoli, etc. — but you can use whatever veggies you have on hand.
